Like some true pioneers, don’t forget it
Put the money on the table, let’s split it
We got enough g’s here to make us both happy
Tell them fans we ain’t runnin no coke factory
It’s $hort dawg the real pimp of the century
- Buy You Some Too Short featuring Eric Sermon, MC Breed, Kool Ace
Nothing really special about the lyrics, I just love this track. Short Dawg in the House!
Just laying down some inks to get my morning started. I’m still trying to get loose and have some fun with these posts. I think its safe to say I’m back on the daily grind.

PLACE ADS HERE, Hip Hop is for sale just like any other commodity.
I have to make the hair crazier and add wild accessories.

I really like the character design on the left. It was really loose, then I had some fun with the hair. Those white on white sneakers are hot!

The character on the right is kind of biographical without the chain, cuts in the eye-brow and the $250 sneaker. The other character was pure fun because it looks weird. I think that silhouette is really strong.

I’ve been kind of busy working on something exciting but I do feel guilty when I don’t feed the blog. Here’s a quick Del the Funkee Homosapien piece of the mighty HIERO crew.

Here’s a quick tribute to man that shared his innovations and changed the landscape of American music. Grand Master Flash.

Way before the $100 million blockbuster films a 17 year old Will Smith, used to go by the name of the Fresh Prince. His DJ was beyond incredible on the wheels of steel. Click here to listen to Mr. Magic’s MixMaster Rap Attack broadcast of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince live on stage.
One of my favorite DJ cuts, “DJ Premier in Deep Concentration” from 1989′s No More Mr. Nice Guy, Gangstarr. “Give the man behind the wheels some credit.”

“Man, I got the price of a mansion ’round my neck and wrist”
- B.G. “Bling Bling” (Chopper City in the Ghetto 1999)
I always thought that was one of craziest, ridiculous line recorded in a hip hop song. Yes, I still listen to the Hot Boys, Juvenile and Big Tymers. Mannie Fresh & Baby were comical. They were more like cartoon characters than non-talented rappers but the beats were always good.
Note, “Braggin & Boastin” is track from the 1988 Jungle Brothers debut record Straight Out the Jungle which came out the same year as N.W.A’s Straight Outta Compton.
Ok, way too much hip-hop trivia.
This is a work in progress, which is to say I don’t know when I’ll finish this . . . if ever. I wish I finished this piece. Maybe I’ll color it after I ink it up but I have a new found appreciation for black and white. Its classically simple, economical and effective.
