Anderson Silva vs Demian Maia

Sylvester vs the Brain

One of the weirdest championship fights in MMA ever.
Note: This is sort of a cut-copy-paste quickie for some quick fun. The characters are owned by Warner Brothers.

Kenny Florian versus Takanori Gomi

This is the first time Gomi will be fighting in the United States, personally I’m waiting for the debut of Mr. Fancy Pants himself, Shinya Aoki. Fighters often behave in a weird manner. There’s nothing really odd about closing your eyes during the public weigh-in face-off but it makes you wonder. Cheick Kongo turned his back on Frank Mir during the weigh-in face off, only to get knocked down and choked out in the 1st round. I just hope Gomi’s action is not a bad omen waiting to happen.

This fight is going down tonight on Spike!

How To Draw KO Power – SHANE CARWIN

Shane Carwin drawing

It’s been a minute since I posted a MMA piece. Here’s 10 – 15 minute drawing . . . not bad. I wanted to quickly sketch a drawing of Carwin after watching his amazing KO victory against Frank Mir at UFC 111. Shane Carwin is still undefeated and he still has yet to see the second round in 12 professional mixed martial arts fights. Next up, the UFC champion Brock Lesnar.

Quick Post UFC 111 Thoughts.
Wow, Dan Hardy! I would be interested in seeing a rematch when Hardy steps up his wrestling and grappling skills. At this point I would love to see GSP face Jake Shields. Yes, GSP is that dude.

Nate Diaz is beginning to put his striking skills together look like his brother Nick Diaz. Cool.

Thursday [S]crap

I ate some beans that strongly disagreed with my digestive tract. I paid the price with pain and plenty of crap. Then I slept practically all day. That felt good. Time for ginger and mint teas to keep me at ease.

MMA Drawing: Quick sketch of Brendan Schaub

quick drawing of Brenden Schaub

Some quick sketches on a slow but productive Sunday. A took some liberty to mess with his nose. Brendan Schaub will surely be back. He’s young, athletic and will only get better. He seems like one of those fighters that will improve from his first KO loss.

MMA Drawing: Fun with Roy Nelson

cheesy drawings of Roy Nelson

This is by far the greatest caricature of Roy Nelson but it was fun drawing it. Good Luck Big Country Roy Nelson! UPDATE: Roy Nelson defeats young Brendan Schaub by vicious KO punch.

Jon Koppenhaver, War Machine

Jon Koppenhaver legal name is War Machine. He went from exciting prospect in the UFC to porn star in a matter of seconds. His exploits since his release from the UFC has become legendary-MMA-internet-fodder. He apparently he enjoys expressing himself on social networks like Twitter/WarMachineXXX.

Miguel Angel Cotto

Drawing of Miguel Cotto

Here’s a quickie sketch of Miguel Cotto. No disrespect but Cotto simply could not compete. I guess it is safe to say that Margarito ruined his career. I don’t see a rematch happening against Pacquiao, because no one wants to see another unnecessary whipping. Oh well, moving forward.

Ok, I’ll admit, I thought Cotto was going to win and at least be able to pressure Pacquiao with some power.

Pacquiao!

drawing of Manny Pacquiao
I had fun with the rich, dark tone in the hair.

Manny Pacquiao became a boxing superstar after his wars against Morales, Barrera and Márquez. He pretty much cemented his legacy amongst the greatest this past Saturday after pummeling Miguel Angel Cotto for 12 rounds. I really don’t think too much about his two previous fights because Oscar De La Hoya was dehydrated and his reflexes left him years ago. Hatton? Hatton simply has little to no skill. He’s a brawler. Miguel Angel Cotto was a very credible opponent but he could not match Pacquiao in speed, power and more importantly skill. Pacquiao is just too good.
