Overall, I thought the speech was on point. He addressed a number of issues, challenged McCain, shouted out independents and republicans. Is this sketch cheesy, crappy or decent? Caricatures definitely require practice and exploration. There are so many ways to approach them. I’ll try a couple more and post them soon.

Will this speech make the fanatics FEEL better about the future, about America, will Barack Obama deliver? Will he deliver a speech that provides a better phrase than “typical white person?” I’m still surprised at his tremendous popularity overseas. He’s rocking in Germany?? Win or lose, can you imagine how much money this guy can make on the lecture circuit?!?
Change Will Come Gradually.
This is probably going to be the last Bear post in a minute. If you visit frequently, I’m bordering on overkill. A bit bored the past 2-3 days and trying to complete some quick projects. So, I’m just messing around and having fun with graphics, ideas and colors. If this piece says something to you, holla!
P. Casso (dope MC) told me to watch out for copyright infringement because the design was created by global artist Takashi Murakami, who I cited already. But I told him that I’m not worried because I’m not using the images for profit just flyers. Although I can really, really kill a crazy 2-3 color design for a t-shirt.
Personally I when I see Murakami work, I see old school graffiti. How many times did you see cats appropriate Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny or any pop culture character and flip it? Most of the old school pieces I loved were a fusion of iconic images juxtaposed with type. So when I hear or read accolades for Murakami’s work and cleverly drafted phrases to explain his “SuperFlat” style, I just simply think . . . yeah OK, no doubt. In the mean time, I’ll just state the freaking Shirt Kings (of NYC) were pioneers and geniuses back in the day. It’s all art, it’s all subjective to your personal taste and experiences. Unless they stole their format from some one else.
I’m not hating, I’m just saying.

Working on a new flyer, with the same old crap with an extra surprise.
It would be cool to see some one color one of these bear posts.

This sketch started out as one thing then something else altogether. Is this close enough for fan service? Whatever. This image can easily be misinterpreted but I keep it clean . . . some times.

Posting doodles a bit later but here are some so-so photographs. I have a decent camera that I did not master yet. The show last night at Sputnik in Brooklyn was tight. Since I’m lazy, rather than give you a full review of the show I’ll just post these photos with quick comments. If you’re in the NYC area, you need to get acquainted with some of these recording artists. Click the images to explore their offerings.
He’s on the blogroll. He’s does his thing on the stage
Kalae All Day, comes backed with a band that rocks!
I just copped his 2nd CD Actual Factual Pterodactyl. I’ll post a review after a couple of listens. He ripped his set. Period.
This was my first time witnessing P.Casso’s stage show. He gives you energy and the rhymes are crisp, blah, blah, blah. I’m going to check out this MC in the near future. His set was equally dope, especially his opening cut.
