Go Digital

Beanie Sigel Work in Progress. I'm challenging myself to constantly push an idea, even when I don't have the motivation or inspiration. Just simply working through a creative block. This piece has become a bit of tedious journey. Some times the results are good and other times the process becomes frustrating. Watching the results unfold brings gives me a certain sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. I'm going to add more colors and some minute details. So far, I'm happy that this piece has a different feel up close and further away from the screen. This kind of reminds me of the effect used in the Justin Timberlake video for his song "LoveStoned." Nah?!?

1950′s Graphics

hip hop graphics A little while back in January I posted Defining Classic Hip Hop Art, briefly discussing Hip Hop visual aesthetics and criterion. Continuing with the study into hip hop arts and graphics, I'm setting out to create a set of graphics and icons. Usually when I see visual hip hop symbols they're usually limited to representations of a microphone, turntables, audiotapes or the antiquated but ubiquitous boombox. I plan on expanding the set of icons and breaking away from the set of stereotypical graphics used to illustrate urban graphics. These two graphics are inspired by 50's graphics. I am fan of some of the retro art and thought it would be interesting to view it with a bit of flavor. As usual, I got to have fun with early 90's hairstyles and all the variations of the cameo-afro. Word Up, Larry Blackmon. I plan on going crazy with the women hairstyles, door knockers are a must!! Any hairstyle or style you would like to see retro 50's style?

Oh Boy!

I had forgotten I named this character Ohboy! and not scritch...to think I forgot my own childs name. I was looking back at some old old posts ad i saw where id named all of the lil characters in my head on the page...well anyway here's another image by me.Ohboy!

Experiments in tech.

Adding a little color to my repertoire asleep

Friday Fun

Super Characters A work in progress inspired by Super Mario Brothers, here are some characters for a possible flash-based game. The original scan was horrible. Eventually CPU power and bandwidth speed will spur really great online game development.

Cool Sketches

Subway Sketch Here's a recent subway sketch. I tried to commit as much to memory because like most people, no one poses for candid sketches. Her make-up game was tight, but the hair-piece was a little off.

Kimbo, Kimbo, Kimbo

This is could have been better. It's not really finished, but I'm done with it. I planned on adding more colors to make the picture more intense and powerful, but his expressions and appearance alone does the trick.
Kimbo Slice
There's a bunch of love/hate for Kevin Ferguson. And the talk will probably remain strong until some one drops him or he beats more and more credible opponents. Tank Abbott apparently isn't credible enough for some fans. Paul Buentello has been calling Kimbo out recently, that fight may be interesting. Buentello definitely bangs, although not against Arvloski. One thing for sure, Kimbo's fights will always be entertaining and he's only going to get better. Hopefully Gary Shaw of Elite XC doesn't continue to pad his future record with beatable fighters. Shaw IS a boxing promoter. The one thing that I like about Kimbo's style is his constant head movement. Most MMA fighters fail to employ some head movement and end up eating the full force of unnecessary shots and some times gets K.O'ed. I'm waiting to see a mix martial artist with a superb boxing background, handspeed, and footwork. That same fighter would of course benefit from some bjj, muay thai, grappling, etc. Although Emmanuel Steward thinks very little of MMA, it would be cool if he were to coach fighters like Kimbo Slice. Maybe even GSP. Pavlik defeats Taylor again, in an unanimous decision. I was never impressed with Taylor. Russia has been running the heavyweight boxing division for quite some time. Wladimir Klitschko vs Sultan Ibragimov may prove to be an interesting match. Unfortunately it may be hard to market foreign champions to an American audience. We all know how fair and open-minded American audiences can be. I like Klitschko, he has a decent style in the ring and a great style outside the ring. I'm looking forward to viewing Joe Louis, America's Hero Betrayed. He is a classic American tragedy. Overall he has a personal great story but his ending was shameful. And hopefully professional fighters learn from Joe Louis, it is good to see that George Foreman did!
