Super Cool Doodles, Sketches and Illustrations
Simple something-something. Having fun with lines, shapes, patterns, and colors. Once in a while you got to try something different. I decided to try a nice natural color treatment. Good Monday, hopefully.

Maybe I’ll revisit these in the future. These are pretty old. There were some others, but they were alright. I was trying to create simple graphic illustrations that popped with color.
I got some good feedback when I was looking for some work, but I got way more offers for “great exposure, we love your work, really original, but we can not pay you.” I really loved hearing that, especially when I was waiting for checks to pay back 2 months of rent. Honestly, it is not pretty original, these illustrations are pretty much exercises.
I hear and know that there are many wealthy people in the music industry who can give you a whole lot of exposure but will probably not pay you even if you have a contractual agreemeent. Or they’ll pretty much take their time paying you back. Wait a minute, that also happens in television, so I guess it is just business. Berry Gordy learned some lessons about late payments, illegal business practices when Motown was at its peak and the catalog was known and loved by America.

. . . I was trying to portray Little Big Homey being crucified.
This one should have been pushed further but I got lazy and decided to stick with a really simple treatment.

. . . and I posted this Snoop a little while back, but I like this one the most, because it had a little bit more style.

Still got to take the practice shots to improve these scritch-scratch-doodle-do-drawings and quickies. Eventually the work will look like I’ve been practicing. I must stop the habit of settling with floating heads. It’s just too easy to create a character, begin with the head but not finish the rest of the body. Lazy. I can not draw automatically, well not like I used to . . . now I deliberate when there’s nothing to think about. I want to get my speed, artist intuition back on track. It is definitely time to take a class or two. And then, maybe the work will be automatic, effortless and the personal aesthetic will shine through.
I’m still going back and forth between Illustrator and Painter. I think both are viable options and have their clear advantages. I might post something on Illustrator in the future. I recently had a chance to play with a Wacom Cintiq tablet. It is worth the whole $2,500.
Practice makes jump-shots look effortless, almost automatic. Kobe often hit big buzzer beaters in the post season. Rick Fox mentioned that Kobe always hit those shots during practice. Outside of innate talent, practice truly makes a professional, with the exception of Iverson. Freaking Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture, continued to train after he retired. Giving up 43lbs, 6 inches in height and 12 years in age, Couture beat Tim Silvia for the HW UFC title. Styles make the fight and I guess his style beat Tim’s. He dropped Tim in the first 10 seconds with a right cross!?! Randy wants to fight Mirko ‘Cro-Cop’ Filopovic. ‘Nuff said.
Hiero is still strong.
