MMA – Marcus Jones: The Darkness Prevails

Marus Jones, The Ultimate Fighter

I could not find great photo reference for him but ehhh . . . so what. Cheesy drawings are fun!

While I am sure Marcus Jones has power, his striking looks really awkward. Jones appears to stick his head out, expose his chin and allowed the smaller fighter to close the distance. Tall men should fight like Lennox Lewis, stick the jab to establish your range and create distance. I know MMA is not boxing but I think it is sound fundamental technique. No? Oh well, the 6’6″, 265lbs. self-professed student of the game surprised everybody with a quick arm-bar submission victory off his back. SWEET! One of the best fights of the Ultimate Fighter Season 10 so far. He applied it quickly like an Abu-Dhabi Combat Club bjj professional. I guess he doesn’t suck balls.

I like the black man in this fight. I think he will let his blackness out, and it will reign supreme. Huge upset: Brett Rogers TKO in round one. Too big, too strong, too hungry! -Thomas Denny

Source: Sherdog.com – Pros Pick: Fedor vs. Rogers
Journey-man MMA fighter, Thomas Denny made this prediction for the huge Fedor Emelianenko – Brett Rogers fight this Saturday*. This is one of those awkward statements that may make some people cringe but I find amusing in a wierd way. I don’t think Denny has any racist intent behind his words just like I don’t think Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is racist when he makes an off-color, race-related remark. They both sounds like jerks, but they’re excuse because they fight for living . . . I guess, I don’t know. Allowing his blackness to reign supreme over one of the best MMA fighters ever is greater than UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s black body. Some times I really enjoy racially contentious news tidbits.

Matsui! Mariano! Posada! Jeter! CC! Damon! and Brian Cashman!
Obviously how much money the organization spends doesn’t really matter because they failed to win the World Series for a couple of years. A-Rod finally won a World Series and Andy Pettitte put on a great performance. I guess they both paid earned their lucrative salaries despite their soon-to-be forgotten personal indiscretions. It is going to be interesting to hear about the Yankees off-season negotiations.

Does Marcus Jones look remotely proficient on the ground? Off his back? Will the sports media question the integrity of the Yankees win and add an asterisk because of Alex Rodriguez and Andy Pettitte? Or will they conveniently forget it and sweep that story under the rug? And more importantly, how do you let your blackness reign supreme?

* The fight is on CBS, free regular television. You should really watch the entire program, you will not be dissappointed.

  • Thats pretty close I would have squared the jaw off a little more! and made the top of his head a little smaller lol.

When he said he was taking someones arm home with him as soon as he slapped that arm bar on I closed my eyes!

Its going to be him and Schaub in the finals.

    The Dawkness!

  • Great art, Marcus is my favorite on the show, although I really like Kimbo. Kimbo seems like a very humble, down to earth guy.

  • Kimbo is just there for spectacle. He isn’t that humble…read up on him and you will see. I hope Marcus looses so “B.A” can piss off and beat down some more doors! Lol

  • you are right marcus has sucky standup but i think it is because he never planned to fight. he wanted to break a limb which he almost did looking at dudes arm. brett rogers looked good and i could understand him crying when he lost. it was his own fault boxing or mma you don’t carry you hands near your chest you asking to be knocked out or beat up. valetudo you are right about kimbo but that was in the past. the last couple years he has changed his views as he got older.
